Respecting Rob because actions speak louder than words.
What to wear what to wear – even Georges is pondering. The Sun is giving one lucky UK reader and their guest a chance to attend the Berlin premiere of Bel Ami:
“We’re sending one lucky reader and their guest to the German capital for the star-studded event where they’ll walk the red carpet with the film’s stars.
The winners must be available to fly to Berlin next Friday.
The film comes out in the UK on March 9, and stars R-Patz as a struggling outsider who rises to the top of Parisian high society by bedding with a string of wealthy women. …
As well as seeing the stars and attending the premiere, this amazing prize package includes return UK flights for two to Berlin and two Berlin WelcomeCards to give you free reign of the city’s transport system.
You’ll spend three nights at the historical Ellington Hotel, a relaxed, elegant, four star design hotel in the heart of the city.”
I had to rub my eyes to make sure I wasn’t seeing things, so imagine my surprise when Peter Knegt from IndieWire included Bel Ami in his “must see list”. And LOL Peter *coughgayporncough* – I bet there were a lot of confused girls out there googling Bel Ami back in 2009:
“Bel Ami (Declan Donnellan, Nick Ormerod, UK)
Not to the be confused with the brand of Eastern European gay porn, “Bel Ami” instead stars Robert Pattinson in another attempt to move beyond his “Twilight” fame. The period film adapted from the book by Guy de Maupassant follows a young man’s rise to power in Paris via his manipulation of the city’s most powerful women (Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Christina Ricci). Perhaps the most star-studded offering at the fest, it could be (campy?) fun.”
I guess it won’t be long now until we start seeing more industry type reviews *bitesnails*.
According to GQ UK Rob is No. 4 on their list of 50 best dressed men in the UK. I usually don’t pay much attention to these lists, but when I see Frida Giannini quoted – well I’m not going to argue. For those who are not familiar – Giannini started off as design director of handbags in 2002, was promoted to Creative Designer of Gucci accessories when Tom Ford left in 2004, then went on to be creative director for ready to wear women’s fashion in 2005 and men’s fashion in 2006 – since then she has been the creative director for the entire Gucci label and also has creative control over the advertising campaigns like the Franco and Danes ones. I wonder how many times she wishes she could convince Rob to be part of an advertising campaign, although I much prefer Rob to stick to his principles about that.
Hopscotch teased us yesterday when they tweeted they would give us a Bel Ami update and I just received their newsletter that tells me this:
‘BEL AMI’ TO PREMIERE AT BERLINALE
The 62nd Berlin International Film Festival
So we’re heading overseas once again. The Berlin International Film Festival has proven to be one of the most exciting and coveted film events in the world. It provides the perfect mixture of Hollywood glamour combined with an unmatched variety of the latest cinematic offerings from Europe and Asia. It was this very festival that awarded A Separation with the Golden Bear last year, igniting what seems like an endless string of awards which continues until now (read more about A Separation’s Oscar nominations in the article below).
Bel Ami will premiere at the festival on February 17 (and yes we will bring you some exclusive news from the premiere), but it doesn’t end there for Bel Ami fans. Berlinale will also launch the first exclusive clip. So make sure you check our Twitter and FaceBook accounts, as we’ll be sharing with you all the latest info.”
Cannot wait for the exclusives.
