the first celebrity to represent Dior Homme apparel“, Out

Well Rob is making history being the first celebrity to represent Dior Homme apparel according to Out and E!Online. So I thought we should put together an initial reaction to yesterday’s news that Rob is the face of Dior Homme Autumn campaign.  And what a face it is. Sorry shallow I know.

Out:  “Robert Pattinson has graduated from the face of Dior Homme fragrance to the face of Dior Homme ready-to-wear. Although the brand’s taste in models is quite delicious, this will be the first time a celebrity has been the face of their apparel campaign.  Photographed by Karl Lagerfeld for Fall 2016, Pattinson’s broody look is perfectly complemented by the classic black-and-white Dior impression. From a sleek outfit for balmy weather to an alt ensemble for the typical cool guy, Pattinson seems to be the appropriate pick to represent the range of the Dior man.

E!Online: “Our favorite hunky vampire has extended his contract with the major French fashion house, being named the face of Dior Homme’s ready-to-wear autumn 2016 collection. This will mark the very first Hollywood star to ever front the line, and we can totally see why—he does the ad some damn good justice!  Pattinson smolders with his chiseled jaw and perfectly sleek hair in the black and white photos for the campaign, shot by none other than Karl Lagerfeld … Basically, we are so grateful for Dior and their continued use of Pattinson’s incredibly good looks.”

Vogue Australia:  “Dior Homme, the menswear line of Dior designed by Kris Van Assche, has chosen Robert Pattinson to front its ready-to-wear campaign, the very first time the honours have gone to a Hollywood actor. “

Instyle: “Pattinson isn’t new to the world of Dior, having previously served as the face of the brand’s fragrance. However, the chemistry between the actor and Lagerfeld was explosive. “We approached Robert Pattinson for the Dior Homme autumn 2016 campaign,” Sidney Toledano, chief executive officer of Christian Dior Couture, told WWD. “He was already the face of the Dior Homme Fragrance and he was thrilled to be also the face for fashion. When we told him that Karl Lagerfeld was going to shoot the campaign, Robert was even more enthusiastic and indeed, the campaign is perfectly reflecting the spirit of Dior Homme. … Talk about cool guy ease.”

Fashionista:  “It looks like Robert Pattinson’s Dior contract is extending well past “Twilight” mania. Serving as the face of the Dior Homme fragrance since 2012, the 29-year-old actor has expanded his relationship with the French design house. On Thursday, Dior revealed that Pattinson is the new face of Dior Homme’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear campaign. For Pattinson and Dior fans alike, this is exciting news: It’s the first time Dior Homme has ever had a celebrity front its apparel ads.  Karl Lagerfeld — yes, the one who is also creative director of luxury brands Chanel and Fendi — photographed Pattinson for the ads, all of which will be released April 1. Lagerfeld, for the record, is a longtime fan of the Dior Homme label, often sitting front row at the brand’s ready-to-wear shows and routinely photographing its campaigns, most recently for the spring 2016 season. … Lagerfeld captured the brooding actor in an appropriately moody black-and-white scheme. Sporting an impressively coiffed James Dean hairstyle (and a teeny-tiny earring visible in one of the two images, below!), Pattinson is looking better than ever. And with a big-budget blockbuster, “The Lost City of Z,” set to premiere later this year, we’re going to be seeing much more of his face as 2016 progresses. We’re here for it.”

ELLE Australia: “He’s still as dashing as ever … However, it seems that the limelight can’t avoid him as he’s just landed Dior Homme’s AW16 ready-to-wear ad. To put this into perspective it’s the first time Dior Homme has ever had a celebrity front its apparel ads. Ever.  So, this is pretty major for the French fashion house. And for Rob’s modelling career- can this happen, please? … The campaign was shot by none other than Chanel’s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld who captured the model in a moody black and white setting, sporting slicked-back hair and a seriously handsome blue steel.  We can only imagine being behind-the-scenes at such fashion shoot. Impressive stuff Rob.”

The Hollywood Reporter:  “ROBERT PATTINSON GAZES INTO OUR SOULS FOR NEW DIOR HOMME CAMPAIGN. Robert Pattinson is no stranger to Dior Homme — he’s worn the luxury label on the red carpet a number of times and has been the star of its fragrance commercials since 2013. Now it looks like the French fashion house is making things even more official with the actor: Pattinson has been named the new face of the fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection, designed by Kris Van Assche. … While Dior Homme has dressed a number of A-listers in film and music including James Marsden, Orlando Bloom, John Legend and A$AP Rocky, this is the first time the label has enlisted a famous face to front its fashion campaign.”

WWD: “PATTINSON’S DOUBLE DUTY: Dior Homme was so enamored with Robert Pattinson as the face of its fragrance that the company is now using the “Twilight” actor in its apparel ads as well.”

PEOPLE Style Watch: “Pattinson was recently named the new face of Dior Homme’s Ready-to-Wear collection, which marks the first time the brand has used a Hollywood star to front the line. It’s no surprise they made an exception for Pattinson, seeing as his Dior Homme fragrance ads were a major, smoldering hit.”

Celebuzz:  “Robert Pattinson Is Even More Beautiful When Captured by Karl Lagerfeld for Dior … Pattinson’s ads mark the first time that Dior is doing a print campaign for a pre-collection. They will run globally in publications including Esquire and GQ, in addition to window displays and online. The Twilight hunk first became the face of a fragrance back in July 2013.”

The Gloss:  “Robert Pattinson’s New Ads for Dior Homme Prove That Cedric Diggory Is Alive and Well … Robert Pattinson has long been attached to Dior Homme as the face of their fragrance, but now, he’s got a new role. The fashion house has tapped him as the new front man for their apparel ads, and the results are exactly what I imagine Cedric Diggory would look like if he had the opportunity to grace us all with this late-twenties glory. And yes, there will be plenty of Harry Potter references in this article going forward. Just go with it.  … The ads, unsurprisingly, are fantastic, and very Hufflepuff-y, if I do say so myself. Suffice it to say that Pattinson definitely found his inner sultry Cedric Diggory here. After all, Hufflepuffs are very good finders.”

Fashion Times:  “”Twilight” actor Robert Pattinson is the star of Dior Homme’s new fall/winter 2016 ad campaign. The iconic French label also tapped Karl Lagerfeld — creative director of Chanel, Fendi and his eponymous label — to photograph the classic black-and-white images. ”

GQ: “Somewhere between planning for his next spate of projects (there are three in the works!) and fending off Twilightdiehards (they’re definitely still around), Robert Pattinson managed to find time for his latest job: being the first celebrity face of Dior Homme clothing.

Technically, the brand has had famous male faces in the past, but only for its fragrances. In recent years, Jude Law and Jamie Dornan have helped advertise the French house’s scents—and Pattinson had, too. But the Fall 2016 collection marks the first season for which Dior hasn’t hired a model (or a not-super-well-known artist like Rinus Van de Velde.) … For an extra dose of star power, Dior hired Chanel designer, Fendi creative director, and emoji-in-waiting Karl Lagerfeld to shoot the images. The Kaiser delivered a series of black and white portraits of Pattinson flexing his famous brooding glare (we’re convinced half of all acting is just staring well).

PopSugar Australia:  “Robert Pattinson isn’t new to the Dior family: he’s appeared in ads for the fashion house’s fragrances before and even showed off his acting skills in a sexy black-and-white video. But for the first time, the star is lending his good looks to Dior Homme’s ready-to-wear collection, appearing in its Fall 2016 campaign, and we have to say — the guy looks good. … Here’s hoping there will be plenty more like these in the future.”
