Well we kicked off this week with some pretty exciting film news for France and then Tuesday spoilt us so let’s get into it. LOST CITY OF Z:  France confirmed it will release the film in December. Makes me curious if they think this might be an academy award consideration or one of the Christmas blockbusters. Time will tell I guess. HIGH LIFE: *twirlsthroughweekinreview* Claire Denis received the most amount of funding out of 44 projects at 1.2 million euros so all systems go. May cannot come soon enough. Nice little 30th birthday present for Rob don’t you think. Also @deesoonz alerted me to a tweet about Stuart Staples (he has composed some Claire Denis film soundtracks individually and with The Tindersticks) composing score for the film. QUEEN OF THE DESERT:  Looks like Norway is getting the film straight to DVD rather than cinema. Belgrade (Serbia) is having 2 screenings as part of their film festival and Chantier Films (Turkey) has included the film in their video of upcoming 2016 movies. Germany is still screening the film in cinemas, which I’m totally jealous of as it has been doing that since September. Great support for Werner as I’ve said before and Poland has now confirmed a new April release date. THE CHILDHOOD OF A LEADER: Lucky people who attended the closing event at Rotterdam as Brady Corbet, Liam Cunningham and it was suggestged Stacy Martin would attend.  We now know Tom Sweet was there instead. Speaking of Brady, he will be at a special screening of the film in Portugal next week where they will also present him with his TAP Revelation Award from LEFFEST. Can you see how green I am … lucky peeps attending that event. The film may not have made the cut for Berlinale, but Protagonist will hold a market screening for it during the European Film Market at the festival. I tweeted a sneak peek at the Codarts Symphony Orchestra rehearsing for closing night at Rotterdam and thanks to Brady Corbet and David Jansco I posted another sneak peek of the rehearsal which I added to the same post as the video interview of Brady talking about the film. I’ve also found another great interview from Brady at Rotterdam where he gives great insight into how the whole film came about. Composers Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans mention Brady and Scott Walker in one of their interviews “Our friend Brady Corbet made a film last year, The Childhood of a Leader (2015), and the score [by Walker] is phenomenal … DB: Tons of double basses. It’s really interesting – what can you do with a bunch of double basses? We love that.” I’ve also updated with a few more great reviews to the roundup. LIFE: I updated the international review roundup with a great DVD review “Robert Pattinson has been making films that are completely different … a success in highlighting the brilliant acting he has”. See we are not the only ones who see it.  I also provided more links for the DVD release in Italy including Amazon. I’ve also updated the Anteo Spazio Cinema (Milan) post with screening times for 11 Feb 2016 and posted about a screening in Barcelona on Monday and Tuesday. IN OTHER NEWS:  How great was it to finally get a larger version of a pic from the Hackett photoshoot and we have to thank Posh again for those gorgeous HQs from the Eclipse promo. No wonder Jules was inspired to use it for our week in review. THINGS I TWEETED: Came across a classic 2008 Twilight Q&A “Q: For Rob, do you use gel, hairspray, or just the natural oils for your hair? RP: What are natural oils? [Laughs] I just use natural oils for my hair – yup. [Laughs]”  How bloody gorgeous is that Ceddie figurine *covetsit*.  Vilinius FF tweeted a great pic of Tom Sweet who we all know from TCOAL.  I also love how Luke Buckmaster (Aussie critic for The Guardian) is guest curator on Dendy Direct this month and has included Cosmopolis as one of his film choices. Well next week we will hopefully hear that Rob’s on set for Good Time and selfishly I’m hoping we don’t get too many pics because I prefer being surprised with Rob’s characters much like The Rover and The Childhood of a Leader. I know I’m in the minority there but that’s just me. On the upside Robjectify found a great little intro vid the Safdies did with Buddy Duress (for French distributor of Heaven Knows What – Carlotta Films) where they mention they can’t be in France for the premiere because they are in the production office and Buddy is also in their next film. Some of you will know that I loved his performance in Heaven Knows What and was disappointed when he said during the Chillin Island interview he wasn’t involved.  Now I’m curious to see how it changed and hopefully will see him on screen with Rob.  Until then …
