Just wanted to update you all on Cosmopolis’ Aussie box office after week one.  You will remember I posted on Monday that it had grossed $92,556.  According to UrbanCine, Cosmopolis is still at no. 11 and has grossed $127,653.

Ooh thanks for the update Maria. Still not bad for one week up against limited cinemas – so limited there are still people who want to see it and can’t get there, it’s a bloody shame.

I just want to say that I think the fact that Margaret and David spat out some nonsense about this one, might of had the opposite effect … I’ve just come back from a screening tonight and it was the largest audience I’ve seen so far. 40 people and no walk outs. So yeah, reviewers can pander to the masses if that’s what helps them sleep at night, while people who are interested will ignore the critics and continue to go see whatever the hell they want.

Michelle, that’s great!!! So many in one sitting and no walk outs!! Word of mouth is spreading. as you said its such a great shame that many people can’t get to see it.

I love your choice of picture Maria. That smile lights up my world every time!

You & me both Carmel. If 2 & a half hours of travel didn’t stand between me & Eric, I would so be there every chance I got. How I wish I lived in Hobart!

Thanks so much for the update Maria. $127,653 is so great seeing as the film is so limited. Such a terrible shame that not everyone can see this amazing film.

40 people & no walks outs is just brilliant Vertigo. Am nodding to your comments too, people who really want to see the film aren’t going to listen to people the likes of Margaret & David. I still cannot believe their ‘review’ *shakes head*

It’s been 2 days since my last viewing, I have a crazy weekend, and I’m suffering serious withdrawal symptoms already….. so I plan on adding to that figure (again) early next week. 40 people @Vertigo ~ that’s great. Don’t think it’s getting those numbers up here, perhaps it will pick up once the Olympics finish.

Thanks for the info Maria.sadly it will not be shown here in Coffs Harbour.I am bitterly disapointed. I have read the book and loved it, I will have to wait untill the DVD comes out. As for Pomeranze and Stratton.I find their reviews on movies a joke. They are typical movie review snobs, and anything that Rob is in they really rubish. Rather like Nick Dent in The Sunday Telegraph,he gave it a low score. This movie received 8.5 minutes of applause in Cannes.Rob was praised for his acting.Critics here in Australia? I would give them half a star.

Thanks so much for the update Maria. Go Cosmopolis! 🙂 I’m sorry the limited release is hitting some of you, such a shame people want to see it but can’t 🙁 seems so crazy. @vertigo that’s fantastic re you latest screening. Damn, I can’t wait to get the DVD, its been too long since I was in the limo with Eric. <3

Sorry to hear that @barbara. It’s such a shame this is limited release. I heard a guy today in the cinema behind me say “and that’s why I hate Robert Pattinson”, but I have no idea “why it was” that he dislikes Rob. He did, however, stay until the end of the film LOL.

Two girls though – they walked out during the Eric/Kendra scene. I have no idea why that scene would be the catalyst for a walk out. They were young I think … maybe they had their Edward dreams shattered … who knows.
