I can honestly vouch for this now … Cosmopolis is definitely a “must see”, but whether you like it or not, that’s up to you to decide. Personally I totally loved it and was mesmerised by the entire film – not just Rob’s performance. Cannot wait for Rob to work with Cronenberg again. I’m still trying to process my thoughts, but I think that Eric has become my favourite performance of Rob. If this is the future Rob has in store for us, I couldn’t be happier, but one thing is for sure. I’m so glad I’m along for the ride *no limo pun intended*. Anyway, Indiewire has included it in it’s list of must see indie films:
1. Cosmopolis (August 17)
Director: David Cronenberg
Cast: Robert Pattinson, Paul Giamatti, Samantha Morton, Sarah Gadon, Juliette Binoche
Distributor: Entertainment One
Why is it a “Must See”? “Cosmopolis” might have premiered at Cannes to significantly mixed reviews (Indiewire‘s Eric Kohn said it “appeals to David Cronenberg fans and nobody else”), but a new David Cronenberg film is still a new David Cronenberg film, and “Cosmopolis” offers a lot to chew on whether you end up being a fan of the film or not. Starring “Twilight” heartthrob … Robert Pattinson as an affluent executive, the film essentially takes place entirely in his limo as it drives across New York City en route to a haircut. Considerably more experimental than recent Cronenberg entries “A History of Violence” and “A Dangerous Method,” it marks something of a return to the filmmaker’s roots. It also marks a much more thought provoking star-powered cinematic option than almost anything else this summer …”
Don’t know if it’s in order of preference, but Cosmopolis being no. 1 make sense to me. I was truly spellbound and as Vertigo tweeted .. I really was speechless in the end – for all the right reasons (yes Sare I know I saw your tweet *giggles*)
