Sonic Scoop interviewed Carter Burwell and the only reason I’m posting this is to confirm the one thing which I’ve highlighted and underlined LOL:

“Cool. What about the fact that Breaking Dawn is a two-parter? Knowing you’re also going to be scoring Part II, does where the story goes from here enter into the picture at all for you? When you’re thinking of these themes?

Well, I’ve read the script, but I haven’t seen any of Part II yet. But I did have to write a theme that Edward plays on camera in Part II. Bill wanted to echo the “Bella’s Lullaby” scene from the first Twilight in the last part, and so I had to write a lullaby for that well in advance so Rob Pattinson could learn the fingering – he’s a musician and prides himself on being able to do that. [my emphasis]

So we know that’s an important part of Part II. And we hint at that theme in Part I. But honestly, it was quite a challenge for me to get my head around the 80 minutes of music for this one. My scores are usually half that. So I didn’t give very much thought to Part II while I was doing Part I.”

OMFG first we are going to have Georges, then we are going to have Edward playing piano and then Eric *_________________________* not to mention the “other projects” Rob hinted at during that 13 minutes of audio I posted this morning.  We thought 2011 was going to be Rob’s year, but I think it’s going to pale in comparison to 2012.

Thanks RobPattzNews.

Uhm, yeah – holy smokin’ moly. When you start thinking about it and listing the awesomeness coming our way from Rob in 2012….ok, I actually can’t think about it – too exciting!!!! Each and every thing is going to be amazing and reading what Carter had to say about the update of the lullaby? So, sooooo perfect to get more Robward at the piano *flails* If he could just be on the soundtrack too….pretty please. 😉

Thanks M!! *does happy dance for 2012*

I’d sit thru ANY movie to see Rob play piano (hopefully for more than a couple of seconds! ~ pretty please, can we have the entire lullaby?) Just watching the gif above does crazy things to me!

OMG @Maria ~ 13 minutes of audio to catch up on?! No time now, will have to save it as my evening delight! Thanks in advance!

The footage of Rob playing in the Twi extras is still my favourite image from all the films. They could release a DVD of just that… and include those missing warm up reels that Maria mentioned.

I just got a new phone and I miss having Rob playing as my message alert. It was such a sensuous sound

    Haha Cindy! Am on it!

@Carmel it wasn’t warm up – my recollection – and Michelle correct me if I’m wrong – was that there was something like 45 minutes of film of Rob playing his own compositions …

  • Michelle

Yep, exactly right Maria – Rob’s own compositions.

Is that the same story that Catherine Hardwicke mentions in her Twilight Directors Notebook?

  • Maria
    Posted on November 24, 2011

I have no idea if Catherine’s mentioned it in her book @Cindy – I’ve never read it. I think I heard someone say it a few years ago.

@Maria – Wow! there is footage of that? 45 min? Shot like the bit above? Wow! That really is a DVD in it’s own right.
