    What’s Happening with Akira …

I know we posted back on 12 April 2011 that Akira was listed as “In Development’ on Rob’s IMDbPro and we know it’s not 100% accurate but Pro is used by industry (I sound like a broken record) and it was where both Bel-Ami and Cosmopolis appeared.  Akira is no longer showing, but it could be due to recent events reported by Deadline that the director, Albert Hughes, is no longer involved.   I’m  not trying to claim that Rob’s involved, although he has been provided with the script, but I’m curious to see what happens seeing as Deadline states:

“As for Akira, the intention of the studio is to keep the picture on a fast track, which means they will find a director quickly. The studio has been wrestling with the approach on the film for the past year. Last March, Warner Bros put together a short list of up-and-coming actors after getting a strong rewrite by Steve Kloves that set the film in a rebuilt New Manhattan, where a leader of a biker gang saves his friend from a medical experiment. At the time, Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield and James McAvoy were given the script for the role of Tetsuo, and Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake and Joaquin Phoenix were courted for Kaneda. The two leads were expected to come from that group of actors. Then, the studio had a change of heart and, given the budget, wanted to have an established box office star in the movie. That led to a flirtation with Keanu Reeves that ended recently.

Warner Bros is back to the other plan, and will likely go back to that list of actors in hopes of making the picture later this year or early next.”

Is it wrong to want to see Rob in leather and on a motorbike?  We can live in hope … right.

    Official Cosmopolis Site Update

I love that the official Cosmopolis site has given it’s signature spin to Caitlin Cronenberg’s pic.  Oh and the site confirms that they are shooting until 18 July 2011.  I also love the fact that they have FINALLY changed the pic of Rob in the cast photos *wipesbrow*

“30th May – starting the 2nd week of Shooting! Shooting until July 18th

COSMOPOLIS’ principal photography started May 23rd, in Toronto, Canada. Based on Don DeLillo’s praised novel, this highly awaited film to be directed by David Cronenberg gathered some of the most exciting stars of today’s industry, including names as ROBERT PATTINSON, JULIETTE BINOCHE, PAUL GIAMATTI, SAMANTHA MORTON and KEVIN DURAND, three-Oscar winning composer HOWARD SHORE and Cinematographer PETER SUSCHITZKY.

A ravishing cast and crew adds incredible value to the most recent project of the director, who already brought us masterpieces as “Crash” and “A History of Violence”. The filming ends on the 21st July 2011.”   (Oooh a few days before my birthday – uh oh I hope this doesn’t mean that Rob’s going to be expected to turn up to Comic-Con)

I am so excited for this film – Rob just goes from strength to strength.  I wish we knew what was in the pipeline for Rob – Akira is no longer showing as “In Development” on Rob’s IMDbPro.

New Pics of Rob on Cosmopolis Set

I believe this might be the last time we see Eric Packer for a while given that most of the story is from within the limo, but who knows.  And I forgot to mention yesterday, everyone was going on about the watch, but I was more focussed on the fact that Rob was wearing a belt LOL  Thanks as always to setje and  pattinsonlife for these great pics.

WFE Box Office Update Including Latest Aussie Figures

Well I told you on Saturday night that WFE had reached $100 million worldwide, and well it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t follow it up with exact totals now would it.  According to The Hollywood Reporter WFE has grossed $50.7 million worldwide:

Same distrib’s Water For Elephants, a Depression-era drama costarring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson, grossed $3.1 million from 2,508 situations in 41 territories, lifting its overseas cume to $50.7 million.

Box Office Mojo is yet to update their foreign totals, but their domestic is stated as $54,404,000.  I can confirm that their Australian figures are lagging because WFE is still going strong here in Oz sitting at no. 3 with a total of AUD8,202,770 thanks to UrbanCine.

That’s a grand total of $105,104,000 to date.

Jesus I love that we are showing Rob the love.  I actually saw it again yesterday afternoon at the Ritz Cinema and the session was still pretty full.
