I have a recollection that someone said that WFE would not be able to compete with  Tyler Perry’s Madea – I can’t remember who that was, clearly I had good reason to ignore them.  To be honest, here in Australia (or maybe it’s just the Rob cocoon that I live in) I have no freakin idea who the hell Tyler Perry is.  In any event, I thought I’d give you all an update on what’s happening at the box office with WFE.

According to Alt Film Guide:

“For the first time since it opened last Friday, Water for Elephants had the highest per-theater average among the top-twelve movies, $506. Tyler Perry‘sMadea’s Big Happy Family lost that top position following a steep 29.5% drop-off rate on Wednesday.”

So I head on over to Box Office Mojo and note:

After only 6 days, Box Office Mojo confirms that WFE has grossed $21,765,547 in the US and $24,365,547 worldwide.  Impressed, well I am since these worldwide figures are yet to include Germany and France.

Happy days!

This is absolutely brilliant news. I hope the knockers see these figures (although it probably won’t change their opinions, ignorant)!!! Definitely seems like it’s time to get those pies out!!!

Wow – That is brilliant news. This is what W4E deserves.

@Maria – I have no idea who Tyler Perry is either.

*claps hands* these numbers are absolutely FANTASTIC. Oh it just makes me happy beyond words to see the film doing so well – like we of course knew it would do. Rob & all involved with the film deserve it ALL.

Thanks so much for the update Maria & I’m with you – no idea who Tyler Perry is. Never ever heard of him before. The person who said that WFE wouldn’t be able to compete with Tyler Perry’s Madea – *shakes head & glares at you* Wrong – so so so wrong. Idiots! These knockers make my blood boil!!

I do know who Tyler Perry is, but have never seen any of his movies. But apparently they all teach a lesson at the end.

@ Martha. This would be no surprise to you. Most of the tickets sold in The US were to you I think. 🙂

Is the lesson @Martha never to assume you can outdo Rob? Hahaha – that’s what it should be for Madea at least.
