For those who can’t wait until 12 May to see this film – here’s your chance to see a special screening of Water For Elephants and watch the red carpet live on the big screen on 6 May 2011 thanks to Event Cinema’s Chicks at the Flicks:

“You are invited to join us for the magic and glamour of Water For Elephants at our first ever Chicks At The Flicks Premiere Event!

See the Red Carpet from the Australian Premiere beamed into your cinema via satellite from Sydney’s beautiful State Theatre, followed by an exclusive advance screening of Water For Elephants starring Hollywood sweetheart Reese Witherspoon and Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson. Rob will be at the State Theatre for the premiere -so you’ll be able to see him working the carpet nice and clearly on your cinema screen!

Date: Friday 6th May
Time: Red carpet will commence at 6pm, then depending on how long the stars mingle on the red carpet the film will commence at around 7-7.30pm.

The red carpet satellite coverage will be LIVE in NSW & QLD but we’ve held it back WA & SA & NT due to time zone constraints.

There are a few ticket options available…

Gold Class package – $70 plus online booking fee
Enjoy bubbles and strawberries on arrival, followed by a Big Top Show Plate:
Maggie beers pheasant farm pate w fig paste & crusty chiabatta
Wagyu beef, sharp cheddar, onion relish & aioli on petite bun
“Carni” cone of buffalo mozz & porchini Aranchini w tomato fonde
Mini Nachetta tutti nachos

And we can’t forget the dessert plate:
Crème brûlée tart topped with Persian spun fairy floss
LINDT champagne made delice macaroon
Bamini designer gelato cone

Vmax tickets – $30 plus online booking fee
Tradtional tickets – $28 plus online booking fee

We have some amazing sponsors on board for this event and everyone will receive a Chicks At The Flicks gift bag filled with new and exciting goodies just for you!

As we all know technology isn’t always our friend – unfortunately we are unable to take responsibility if technical issues arise with the satellite feed from the red carpet.”

Thanks to Joanne for the tip!

Thats awesome! I think id still like to test my luck of catching an actual glimpse of him in the flesh though!

Seeing Jacob early – so so exciting!! What a wonderful night it will be. Thanks so much Maria & Joanne 😀

I’m with you there Sare although this is really tempting!!! Maybe i could check out the red carpet and sprint to the George St screening. I’m no athlete but for Rob I would give running a try!!

  • Carmel
    Posted on March 31, 2011

I agree, I can’t pass up the slightest chance of seeing Rob in the flesh. Even to know I’m in the same street as him will be awesome. But thanks for keeping us informed Maria

  • Maria
    Posted on March 31, 2011

Yeah I posted this because it’s being held Australia wide and well not everyone will be lucky enough to in Sydney on the night.

ooooh i dont know what to do now!

    Posted on March 31, 2011

Wow that’s really exciting! What a privelage to be able to see it the same night as the premiere 🙂

  • Vicky
    Posted on March 31, 2011

No, no running, i’m taking my chances at seeing the real thing!!! I can wait another 6 days for the actual movie.

  • Carolyn
    Posted on March 31, 2011

@Vicky we could make a run for it! I wonder how far up George St the cinema is from the theatre? We can skip the hor’douves and just see the movie! Even if we’re a few minutes late, it doesn’t matter, because you know we’re going to see the movie many times anyway. I think it will add an extra element of excitement to this whole expedition.
But then on the other hand, it’s so exciting to know that rob would be in the theatre with us just outside.
    Ahhh, the dilemma!

  • Liz
    Posted on March 31, 2011

You lucky things are all obviously in Sydney!
Anyone on here likely to be going to Robina or Pacific Fair?

  • Carolyn
    Posted on March 31, 2011

According to Google Maps the cinema is 0.6 km – 7 minute walk from the theatre (I love google maps!!)

  • Vicky
    Posted on March 31, 2011

Carolyn, it’s not really that far and it is tempting. Don’t forget Sunrise is going to have the competition to walk the red carpet. You know we’ll have to have a crack at that!!!

Liz, only for Rob. Left 12 years ago and now i’m just a tourist LOL!!

  • Maria
    Posted on March 31, 2011

@Carolyn just so you know – George St complex is about 2.5 large city blocks away from the State Theatre.

  • Maria
    Posted on March 31, 2011

I’d say 10 minutes – 7 would be power walking / running and that’s if you catch the lights. It’s more like 1km

  • Jane
    Posted on March 31, 2011

What happened to Victoria – no Jacob that’s not fair. 🙂

  • Carolyn
    Posted on March 31, 2011

We could always just buy the Vmax or traditional tickets, at least we know we have the option. If we don’t use them, oh well, then we’ve lost $30. I know it’s a bit excessive, but this whole weekend is excessive!! I say let’s go for it!

  • Liz
    Posted on March 31, 2011

@Vicky, that’s so funny. I’m pricing flights down from the goldcoast now and trying to recruit friends to go so I know which cinema to book. 🙂
I really want to go to the George street one too – we’ll know the girls from RPAU – they’ll all be sprinting through George street.
I’ll pack my runners. That 600m will be done in 3min 40 by my calculations (that’s of course if one don’t fall instantly in love and he doesn’t ask me to stay) 😉

  • Vicky
    Posted on March 31, 2011

Good point. I’ll talk to my friend and see what she says!!

  • Vicky
    Posted on March 31, 2011

Liz, the more the merrier an i’m sure we’ll be quite the sight sprinting down George St!!! If he does ask you to stay just remember your friends from RPAU LOL!!!

  • kespax
    Posted on April 01, 2011

Ohhhhhhhhh why are they being so mean to Victoria?
    So we get NOTHING!

    Why, why, why?

So not fair, I will be crying at home whilst everybody is basking in his glorious glow in Sydney and the rest of Australia gets this preview.

Why are they torruting us in Melbourne, bastards.

How can we get hold of tickets to the State Theatre? That will be awesome!!!!

  • Maria
    Posted on April 01, 2011

@Teresa – at this stage no tickets are being sold for the premiere. If it changes we will let you all know.

That;s good to know Sarah. I’ll have to let her know. Even if we get seperated for the movie i’m sure we coud meet up after to discuss. Plenty of places on George St for that!!

Liz I think there’s going to be a whole group of us sprinting down George St!!!

  • Vicky

VMax tickets booked. Definite starter for the sprint, count me in, woohoo!!!!

    Posted on April 01, 2011

Ok so Michelle tells me she’s unapproved a few comments in this thread.

I kind of know how Rob feels now where people just refuse to listen to anything he says.

I understand everyone’s excited about this event and people want to meet up – but I’ve asked on numerous occasions for no personal information to be posted in our comments field.

If you want to meet up with people then please send us an email either to gmail or hotmail accounts and we will pass on details. This actually creates more work for us but people really – we don’t want your personal plans, details information available through this website.

    That is all.

Oh except this is the last time I’m going to say this – in future all comments will just be unapproved.

    Now really that is all.

  • Sarah
    Posted on April 01, 2011

Oh I am sooo sorry about my comments I havent been on here that long and didnt realise I couldnt write these things…please accept my apology and delete my comments…..sorry

  • Liz
    Posted on April 01, 2011

Oh @Maria. I’m so sorry. Same as Sarah I didnt realize you weren’t meant to write personal comments on here either.
I completely understand if u need to delete any of my comments as well.
I’ll have a bit o a scope around the site and check what u mean.
Is it ok to say that you have booked to go to a cinema but just not organize to meet up? Or is mentioning where u are going already too much ( please don’t think I’m being a smarty either – I’m just not really a blogger).
Hope we didn’t create too much work for you and @Michelle.
    🙁

  • Maria
    Posted on April 02, 2011

@Liz we just don’t like seeing people’s personal details or too much information on the site merely because there are other people who lurk on this site that are not interested in Rob. It might sound paranoid but we just don’t like anyone’s details out there for these people to see. I seriously delete on average between 30 to 50 spammers a day. You know – you just don’t know who it is that’s lurking and that’s our reasoning.
