    Fox2 Detroit Interview with Rob

Rob I LOVE that you want to do meaningful films – bye bye Twi hello Oscars!  Thanks to our wonderful friend Suze at our elite affie PattinsonStateofMind for the tip.

I love your site and look it up regularly as I too am a massive Rob fan…My only critisism is the bag out on Twilight. When Rob says he wants to make meaningful films, he isn’t saying Twilight isn’t meaningful, yet you say “bye Twi, hello oscars”….Playing Edward Cullen was a gr8 move for Rob and although I look forward ro ALL he does, Twilight is definitely a part of that. Just my opinion and no offence is meant. I really do adore your site ;0)

Hi @Cathy – no that’s okay I know there are fans that love Twilight – I just can’t bring myself to compare the Twi movies to Rob’s movies such as Remember Me, Little Ashes, Haunted Airman. It’s got nothing to do with Rob, more Melissa Rosenberg and the scripts that she writes – I just don’t think the dialogue allows Rob to soar, but I’m happy for you to disagree with me and that you love the site. I do agree that Twilight has allowed him to obtain current roles such as WFE, but it will be his performances in these films that, in my opinion, will allow him to have a long and successful career, and I’m not offended by your comment :D

Loved this interview. I am a fan of twilight and I think that this role has exposed Rob to so many more people but your right Maria it doesn’t showcase his considerable acting talents the way his other roles have. The opportunities it is now providing are undeniable but it is Rob’s talent that will provide career longevity not the Twilight saga. Definitely not offensive Cathy. We all share one thing in common and that is our love of Rob and everything he does!!!

Yes please, meaningful roles that allow him to shine.

From watching this I detect Rob has his doubts about it pleasing the fans. Just my humble opinion.

The meaningful roles are where Rob truly shines his brightest. So many examples in the past (especially the brilliance that is Toby, Dali & Tyler) & of course CANNOT wait for all to come starting with Georges & Jacob. Hello Oscars indeed Maria, they are coming no doubt about it!

Thanks for messaging me back Maria and glad you weren’t offended by my comment. I adore Rob…love love love him in HA, RM, H2B and BMH…oh and of course Little Ashes. Amazing. I am really looking forward to seeing him as Jacob Jankowski in W4E. *Bated Breath*….and Georges Duroy in Bel Ami. In regards to Twilight, I’m a fan of the books and dialog aside, he really is a kick-arse Edward Cullen as I’m sure you would agree :0)

LMAO @Cathy – kickarse Edward Cullen – no freaking disagreement from me! I suppose I’m just disappointed with how they translated the books to screen – could have been so so much better. Bring on Georges *cheekygrin* :D
