Remember Me – Opening Weekend Box Office

    RMNYC

Well in Australia I can tell you that Remember Me grossed AUD510,753 from 173 screens according to Urban Cinefile over the opening 4 days.  It came in at no. 8 which I suppose isn’t that great, but we are only talking about 173 screens.  We can’t even begin to compare that to the US where it came in at no. 4 with gross takings of USD8.281 million but that’s over 2,211 or so screens according to Variety.  You have to remember it hasn’t experienced worldwide release yet – I mean the UK isn’t seeing it until 2 April and I know Mexico doesn’t have the chance to see until 26 March.  So it’s still early days.  The other thing we need to remember is that it was made for USD16 million so really when Rob calls it a little film – he’s not kidding – I mean Johnny Depp was probably paid more than that just to play the Mad Hatter.  We will check again next week to see how it’s faring, but to be honest I don’t think it’s doing too bad.  So keep on getting the word out there and introducing new people to the talent that is Robert Pattinson – I know most are pleasantly surprised, plus this movie as a whole is probably one of the most profound films to come out of  dare I say Hollywood in a very very long time.

Dare away Maria. I can’t even think of the last time hollywood brought out a movie like this

ooooh i like your Tyler pic of the day. It looks familiar…. :D

Posted On: March 15th, 2010 By: Sare

I think the film is doing pretty damn well too & as you say Maria, is only early days yet. RM would definitely have to be one of the most profound films to come out of Hollywood in an extremely long time that is for sure. Can honestly say no other film has ever had the deep effect RM has had on me. As I have said before, this story will stay with me forever. Definitely keep getting the word out there everyone & introducing Rob’s talent to people who are not already aware.

LOL Sare, I was just going to say how much I love your grav :)

Not too bad for a little film, as you say Maria, it’s still early days. Thanks for keeping us updated.

It really is the best movie I’ve experienced in years and can’t wait until I’m all curled up on the couch with my blankie, fave munchies and the dvd.

i think RM is doing really well and we should consider that its early days as maria said.and generally people like it.

    C’MON RM – GO!!!!!!!

Rob is so great in Remember Me!!!
Rob now know who are his real fans.

But I ask “where are the twilight’s fans!?! How can they lost a film like Remember Me? Tyler’s story is so engaging, they if put aside their preconceived notions and go to see Rob, they’ll love his new film-
I love Twilight but Remember me so much.

Posted On: March 16th, 2010 By: SIMONA

The twi hards who didnt see RM are not rob fans .they re edward fans.i am a twilight fan but i am also a remember me fan.i love twilight but that has nothing to do with rob.to me edward and rob are different things.i may love both but the one as a lovely book character and the other as a great actor,a beautiful man and a kind person.am i clear? haha

Well as you know Maria we have all done our bit but then you are preaching to the converted on this site!!Converted or addicted not sure – but I know what I am!! Going again to night but I am annoyed I have only seen two posters in bus shelters no ads on TV and small ads in the paper and none by village only hoyts I think maybe the press people like Taylor and Kristen better, they do nothing for me.

Posted On: March 16th, 2010 By: Jane

    saw RM.two words.awesome awesome.am dead.

Posted On: March 16th, 2010 By: Anna

LOL @Jane so true so true about preaching to the converted. I think I did a mini rant about that on the main RM thread – there’s a widget on side bar called “Have you seen it”. That’s why I was so perplexed when the person had a go at me about not promoting RM enough – I mean if you are on this site which is clearly NOT a twilight site, then I know you are going to go and support Rob – go figure. As for the media liking Taylor and Kristen – I think it’s more that Summit needs to push their careers for them because their acting abilities pale in comparison to Rob. Oh and sorry – this is not something else open for debate because as I said it’s not a Twilight site so if you disgaree with my comments – just handle it because I will delete any debate about Taytay and KS and their acting abilities – Jane and I share the same views. Yes I know RPAU is a democracy but when it comes to non-Rob disucssions then I’m a dictator – hahaha.

    maria castro haha LOL :D

Posted On: March 16th, 2010 By: Anna

Well said Maria I have had my little rant as well the only thing that really gets me is the lack of advertising!!

Posted On: March 16th, 2010 By: Jane

it s disappointing that when they want to promote something they show it as more as possible and they get on our nerves.but when they dont want sth to be shown they bury it as deep as possible.it s a pity that really good films do not make good numbers because almost everything is done for money.

Posted On: March 16th, 2010 By: Anna

RM is doing well considering the lack of promotion. I had a look at a site yesterday and Remember Me was #1 in popularity.
I know I keep telling everybody to go and watch the movie and what impact it had on me. A lot of people though cringe when I tell them it’s Rob – their comment is always “oh that guy out of Twilight”
I just think it’s their loss.

Posted On: March 16th, 2010 By: Lids

I think the Australian media needs a kick up the proverbial. Hardly any commentary and needed to go into more cinemas for sure. We still don’t have it on the horizon but I know I’ll be there once or six times so if everyone does the same thing and brings a friend the true results may not be known for a while.

In short – you dont mess with Maria ;) xx

ROB GIVE LIFE AT EDWARD, EDWARD IS ONLY A FANTASY, ISEN’T REAL.

Posted On: March 16th, 2010 By: SIMONA

It is SUCH A GREAT movie! I think it deserves more than #8 but hey, considering its not doing too bad. Please get out and see it if u havnt it is sooooogoood! Come to Oz soon Rob! And go our Aussie Emilie!

Posted On: March 16th, 2010 By: Shianna

    OMG – He’s so gorgeous!
@Maria – you go girl! I’ve been looking at the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and the RT community luv Remember Me, yet for some reason the critics don’t…it’s nuts!
My hubby was so impressed with his performance and that is a big call – I mean he’s not a fan, but give me time :) I mean Rob is only 23 and hasn’t had loads of formal training, but he has brought all his characters to life – can’t wait for Bel Ami and even Eclipse – he will carry that film yet again…
    @Simona – so true.

Posted On: March 16th, 2010 By: Ves

Hoping tha showing in England, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain and other parts in Europe can compensate for the lucklustre appeal in OZ.
Unfortunately, Hollywood’s mantra is box office dollars. To ensure Rob’s longevity, what other creative ideas can we come up with to help fill the seats? I’ve emailed friends/relatives overseas and inter-state to watch the movie.
I’ll volunteer my time around my area if need be and try to organise group bookings amoung family and friends in the future for non franchise movies of Rob.
We should welcome other fans of Rob and try not to alienate them. A fan is a fan.

Posted On: March 17th, 2010 By: Addy

There’s no debate when it comes to Rob’s acting abilities ……….! The Smile, the Pretty, the Gorgeous and the Wholesomeness of Rob.

Posted On: March 17th, 2010 By: Addy

Oh ~ and the Sense of Humour !!!!

Posted On: March 17th, 2010 By: Addy

RM was filmed for $16m? Wow! It makes you wonder why there is a need to spend more, if $16m can produce such a powerful story with quality actors and so beautifully shot. It is a successful film.
RM represents the type of movie Rob can feel proud of and I hope he gets the opportunity to continue telling stories like this.
