Circus (AKA Water For Elephants) news

    press-conference-13

Fantastic news everyone, Rob’s IMDb page is now showing ‘Circus’ as being in ‘pre-production’ with a release date of 2011 (US) & the info is now available for everyone to see instead of just being listed on IMDb Pro. Ladies, looks like Rob’s involvement in this film is official, well as official as we can get in this world called Hollywood.  Cannot put into words how excited I was when I logged into IMDb & saw this & can hardly contain my excitement as I am typing.  Interesting to see they have changed the name for the film, not sure why at this stage but sure we will find out more at a later date.   The info listed so far is as follows:

    Cast:
    Robert Pattinson
    Christoph Waltz  – UNKNOWN
    Reese Witherspoon

    Director: Francis Lawrence
    Writers: Sara Gruen (Novel)
    Richard LeGravenese (Screenplay)

Plot:  A veterinary student abandons his studies after his parents are killed and joins a traveling circus as their vet.

No Sean Penn which is a shame.  He would have been a fantastic August but am sure Christoph will do a great job too. I love this story & just cannot wait to see Rob in the role of Jacob.  He is going to be brilliant. 2011 is going to be another amazing Rob filled year.  So much to look forward to everyone, so so much.

I’m Excited :D Love this book. I think Rob will be wonderful. Wonder how they will do the aged part. This is such a different story – it’s going to be fabulous.

Posted On: February 20th, 2010 By: Willow

FYI: IMDB is Like Wikipedia in that the info is not put out there by “official” sources.(ie, they dont contact agents/managers to confirm) Weather he can do this film will not be announced until April as it will all hinge on Breaking Dawn. Once Bel Ami is finished he will have a few weeks off, then the Eclipse Junket which he will be doing thru the 1st week of July. If BD starts shooting in September, there is absolutely no way he could do this film.

Rob stop spoiling us – no wait – don’t. Haha @Willow I’ve responded to your email – good to see we were on same wavelength. I loved the book too and I can so see Rob as Jacob – as for the aged well I’ve already convinced myself that it will be Rob in makeup. I’d say that’s one of the reasons he probably went for the role. Fingers crossed.

@Lori – um thanks but I actually have a friend who is a casting agent in the UK and they do use IMDbPro in the industry and that’s where our information is from. Are you in the industry or just assuming that BD is being filmed – last I heard BD wasn’t happening until November – if at all (i’m still hoping for the latter because I’m sick of everyone acting like this movie is so much more important than Rob’s actual career). And I doubt he will be doing Junket in first week of July since it’s released on 30 June, but hey I could be wrong. But thanks anyway – we are aware that until its officially announced it might not happen and then even then – well we all remember Parts Per Billion – right. But thanks for bursting our bubble.

I loved it to in fact reading it again as we speak and thank god the rest of the world is waking up to the fact Rob is not just a pretty faced vampire.

Posted On: February 20th, 2010 By: Cindy

Am so excited I may just strip down and run through RPAU nekid when it becomes 100% certain. :) Thanks for the update Michelle, it’s looking more and more promising.

I agree that Rob should be doing old Jacob, well that’s how I saw it when I read the story – he will be brilliant!

Posted On: February 20th, 2010 By: vertigo

Haha @vertigo – if you’re going to get nekid you might have to give us a warning to post. And agree although we “know” it’s not 100% official – Bel Ami was exactly the same on IMDbPro and then IMDb and well yes, that seems to be happening. Nothing wrong with getting a little excited since Eclipse and BD just don’t cut it for me.

    WOOOOO!

*gets into position for a happy dance* (will dance when its confirmed) lol

Posted On: February 20th, 2010 By: Sare

LOL @Vertigo, too funny. I understand your excitement completely. No need to tell you how excited I was when I saw this news :D I too imagined Rob as Old Jacob when I was reading. I love old Jacob (& young too of course) & Rob would be brilliant playing him at both stages of his life. Just cannot wait :D

That is exactly what I was thinking Maria. We are very aware it’s not 100% official but the same happened with both RM & Bel-Ami & yep one is coming to our screens in 19 days & one is filming right now. Cannot help being excited about this, just cannot. Like Maria, the Twi saga doesn’t really get me all that excited. Of course I will watch & support for Rob, but as I have said many times before, it is his projects outside of Twi that really really excite me & that I cannot wait for.

Posted On: February 20th, 2010 By: Michelle

Aw I am not waiting this sounds good enough for me *breaks out the happy dance*. Wish they had kept the same title but I guess if you haven’t read the book it doesn’t really link well to what the story is about. Can’t WAIT! This is an amazing role for him and like you say Maria especially if he does both young and old Jacob.

    Posted On: February 20th, 2010 By: lise-lou

love the book, can’t wait for the movie, he’ll be great in it, too bad about Sean P. he would’ve been a great August

to be honest i have no idea of this book.can anyone help me?with a summary?

Posted On: February 20th, 2010 By: Spunk Ransom

@SR – It is a wonderful story. I definitely recommend you read it :D You can see more info about the book in Maria’s post here: http://www.robertpattinsonau.com/2010/01/22/new-role-for-rob-oh-god-please-let-this-be-true/

    I hear ya M&M’s. :)

Not that I have a say in the matter, but if it came down to doing a C-section or bonding with an elephant, I have a good guess which Rob might prefer and so would I. Besides, there’s not a whole lot more he can do with Edward (thanks Rosenberg) and Jacob (W4E) is something completely new he can sink his teeth into (not forgetting RM & Bel-Ami ofcourse). I want to see Rob take more opportunities to exercise his acting chops. So with this in mind, also the fact that Summit has peed me off with the slow roasting which has ensured the killing of the excitement and magic for me, I guess I’m confessing that “Circus” is at the top of my wish list. I don’t want to hear anything about contractual bull’s wipe, it means nothing to me.

I know I’m basically reiterating what’s been said here before – but having read Jacob, how can I not?
I’ve always been of the mind that Rob should ride this Twi-series train through, hell I’m even one of the few who enjoyed BD. The circus train however will be so much more fun hay.

p.s. I still love you Eddie, that will never change. I just have serious fears about BD and Rob’s work being misused is all.

W4E was on A&R’s Top 100 List as voted by their readers. #63, I think. I’m going through this list & that’s how I came to read it. This is such a great part for Rob. It’s so exciting we are a step closer to this film being actualized. The Details article has wetted my appetite for this film even more. Sigh.

Unbound Captives is very exciting. The casting looks great and the story intriguing. Rob will be riding bare back. Plus, I’m hoping the Hugh connection may bring Rob to OZ.
